Tomato Hornworms

This is what I am dealing with now.

Harvest

Harvest last week . One pepper and a few basil leaves.

Hibiscus from seed

Started hibiscus from seeds . I sowed 5 in 5 such small pots that various plants I had bought came in. This and another one sprouted. Waiting for it to get a little bigger, I am thinking at least 5 - 6 true leaves before I transplant it.

Bell Peppers

Ready for harvest?

Methi (Fenugreek)

Seeds came from the kitchen that I used for the Sambar

Peas

Only the ones in this corner sprouted. The other side may have  had too much sun.

Ixora (Jungle Geranium)

Chethi poo in time for Janmashtami.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are doing well so far, some worms are eating the leaves . I need to find all of them.

Tulsi

New tulsi plants progress

Beans and Carrots

The beans grew really fast with no fuss at all. The carrots are under there somewhere. Its so amazing that they found the bamboo support all by themselves and climbed up.

Aug 02 2008 Found a Praying Mantis!

Found a Praying Mantis on my Pepper plant. I think they eat the aphids...thats the good organic way of getting rid of them.

Aug 02 2008 Marigold

I had bought some orange flowers at the flea market, I think these are marigolds . My mother took some of those dried flowers ad sprinkled them in these 2 pots back in mid-May. They kept growing leaves and now these are the first flower buds. I have saved some dried flowers from the original set of plants for next year spring/summer. I am not sure if they do survive that long.

Aug 02 2008 Peas

Peas grow really easily . Just sow them , they grow, flower and produce peas and I have planted them again. I have only experimented with a few seeds at a time. This time I put in more than 10.

Aug 02 2008 - Tulsi

This is the Tulsi (Holy Basil) plant I bought from logees.com. It is doing well so far. You can see tiny leaves forming in the bottom. I took some of the dried seeds and scattered them about in another pot. Lets see what happens.

Aug 01 2008 Bell Peppers

The four tomato plants

Aug 01 - My Balcony Garden

Last summer , I bought a tomato plant at a flea market for a dollar. The seller told me to transplant it burying about half the stem in the soil. So , I promptly bought a 10'' terra cotta pot and some potting soil and planted it as per instructions. I did not expect it to survive very well , let alone produce a tomato. I watered it when I remembered to. And then one fine summer morning , there it was !, the first tiny baby tomato. I had not even noticed the flowers. And then I realized . Hey! I have something here. That started it. I wish I had a picture of that perfect tomato ...
